Meïkhâneh’s compositions are fed by imagination, improvisation and traditional music from Europe, Mongolia and Iran. The luminous and captivating voices carry the power of Eastern European singings, the aerial melodies of the great spaces, as well as the depth of the khöömii, Mongolian throat singing. One can hear traveling strings recalling the steppes of Asia and Andalusia. The chiseled rhythms of percussion draw on the Persian tradition. Five years after “La Silencieuse” (Buda Musique 2017), Meïkhâneh affirms more the Persian, Mongolian and European influences of its musical language, at the crossroads of World Music and an imaginary Folklore. The trio explores interiority and exteriority, the cocoon and the vast world, what is felt and what is said. A call to space, to travel, to nature… “Chants du Dedans, Chants du Dehors” offers 13 songs that are both luminous and intimate, earthy and vibrant.
