"Born in the Daraa oases of southern Morocco, Daraa Tribes unites diverse tribal traditions, Saharan rhythms and blues into a powerful, multilingual sound that bridges ancestral heritage and contemporary expression."
Daraa Tribes is a Moroccan desert music group originating from Tagounite, an oasis town in the Daraa River Valley of southern Morocco. Bringing together members from different tribes, each with their own musical heritage and cultural influences, the group reflects the diversity and interconnectedness of the Sahara’s communities.
Their sound emerges from a unique meeting of musical traditions found across the North African desert, blending Gnawa rhythms, Sahrawi melodies, Amazigh influences, Regada and Ikaaba with the raw energy of Sahara blues and rock. Through eclectic instrumentation, driving percussion and expressive vocals, Daraa Tribes creates a powerful tribal fusion that remains deeply rooted in its origins while embracing new musical possibilities.
Language is an essential part of the band’s identity. Moving between Darija, Hassani and Tamazight, their music reflects the multilingual and multi-ethnic character of southern Morocco, giving voice to the diverse cultures and histories that shape the region.
More than a musical project, Daraa Tribes is an expression of shared heritage, cultural exchange and collective identity. Their sound carries the spirit of the desert oases onto the stage, connecting ancestral rhythms with contemporary influences and inviting audiences into a vibrant musical journey through the Sahara.
